Well-being

We discuss well-being a lot.

What does wellness mean to you personally? Does it cover things like the capacity to handle stress, unwind, feel good about oneself and about others, and maintain healthy relationships? Or is it just a simple case of you being happy?

We’ve got some excellent news if you feel like your well-being isn’t where you want it to be.

What if the best thing you could do for your well-being was simply to be more present in the life you now lead, without making any other changes? Deepening your power of awareness is one method for doing this.

By awareness, what do we mean? Awareness is the ability to intentionally focus on what you are sensing, feeling, and thinking in the present moment. It also refers to being aware of your current experience. The term “mindfulness” also refers to this type of intentional attentiveness.

Usually, we are preoccupied and our minds are racing from one thought to the next like a monkey. The monkey mind is frequently depressed and annoyed because it is preoccupied with regrets from the past or worries about the future.

By being in the moment and engaging in mindfulness practices, we can teach the monkey mind to settle down. We are far more equipped to deal with adversity and to appreciate what is truly here when we stop living in the past or the future and are continuously distracted.

The following benefits come from practicing mindfulness:

  1. Living a life that is intentional allows you to truly make choices about what you want and whom you want to be rather than letting your actions be dictated by your past behaviors. In other words, you can react to what’s happening rather than reacting to it.
  2. You may discover when you return to the present moment that whatever you are clinging to comes and disappears. Additionally, you may come to the conclusion that letting go of things rather than holding on to them is what ultimately makes you happy and at rest.

According to research, practicing awareness and mindfulness will enhance your relationships as well as your sense of well-being and happiness.

The following activities can help you sharpen your superpowers of mindfulness and awareness:

  1. Focus on your breath for a short while in the morning. Acknowledging and intentionally letting go of distractions as they occur, as well as paying attention to timing in- and out-breaths and the gaps in between.

  2. Recognize a natural gap in the activity and decide to take a brief break. After that, pay attention to your senses and give yourself permission to feel and think about what you are sensing and hearing.

By enrolling in a course, reading a book, listening to a podcast, or any combination thereof, decide that you want to learn more about advancing your practice of mindfulness.
